Steam Chemical Indicator type 4 (RRS 14-11450) is used to monitor the sterilization of packs and packages of less than 12 items, including small sterile packs such as dressing sets. RRS steam chemical indicator is designed to react to two or more of the critical variables and is intended to indicate exposure to a sterilization process at the stated values (SVs) of the chosen variables. In a steam autoclave, three parameters of temperature, time, and pressure are important. The chemical indicator for the steam autoclave is effective at two temperatures of 134 ° C for 3.5 minutes and 121 ° C for 15 minutes.
